Our Construction Stages for a Buckingham Pool
BUILDING POOLS THAT LAST
Our precise, systematic Design & Build process is devised to meticulously deliver your project with your concept and expectations in mind. With a wealth of expertise, our in-house professionals first take the opportunity to capture your vision during the initial consultation stage. This way, each process, your selection of style and finishes are all collaborated and effectively realised to your design specifications. Our design methodologies and construction approaches ensure full compliance with PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group) standards. Incorporating the latest technological advancements and engineering systems means your pool will significantly benefit from longevity.
With our vast knowledge base of all types of commercial and residential pools, through 70 years of experience, we have championed building bespoke pools of any shape, size or complexity. To date, Buckingham Pools are renowned for cutting-edge and distinguished creations of top-class wet leisure facilities and complexes. Our dedication will ensure quality execution and an environment that will suit the lifestyle you envision. We continue to be committed to building no less than long-lasting yet aesthetically pleasing pools, making your investment in us and our services worth your while.
STAGE 1 | Initial Consultation
During your Design Consultancy with one of our sales consultants, we take the opportunity to discuss and capture your vision. We consider your overall concept in this phase, including the pool’s shape, size, style, and any other bespoke elements. Once studying your requirements, we ensure your design is at the forefront throughout the project.
STAGE 2 | Design Development
We now take you on a collaborative process as our design team works alongside you to translate your initial concepts and sketches into a robust design. We produce your drawings using the latest AutoCAD MEP 3D software, referencing every minute aspect. All of which are BIM compatible as Buckingham Pools minimum standard. Your dedicated designers will present the complete design scope, providing a clear breakdown of all details and costs, including required builders’, mechanical and electrical works. Maximising clarity with adjoining trades is a top priority for our design team to guarantee a genuine partnership.
You will receive a comprehensive Performance Specification, with every nuance detailed in one document. Our fundamental principle in all our works encourages high quality and standards delivered to each project. To illustrate, we define everything from the structure, waterproofing methodology, specific equipment, and finishes selection to the system performance criteria. Our drawings can be rendered in 3D for maximum integration with the entire project. Additionally, you can opt for our CGI services for your pool and space for the next level of visualisation.
Our designers continue to work alongside you to ensure the best results, interfacing with all other trades throughout the entire project.
STAGE 3 | Shell Construction
We design to BS 8007 and BS EN 1992 – Eurocode 2 Design of Concrete Structures Part 3 to construct our pool shells using shotcrete technology. This Design Standard is inherently waterproof and subject to a static water test against the concrete before any further waterproofing. Implementing precise methodologies such as this one ensures the base concrete structure is already capable of holding water long before any backfilling or expensive finishes are applied. Consequently, from the earliest stage, you know that you benefit from quality assured water retaining structure long before it becomes a pool.
STAGE 4 | 1st Pipework Fixing
Following the shell construction, we carry out pipework and service installations from the pool shell fittings to the plant room, followed by pressure tests of the pipework. All aboveground and underground pool circulation and plant room supply lines are manufactured only from the highest quality, commercial-grade uPVC material. Similarly, all fixtures and fittings built into our water retaining structures are by design hydrophobically sealed. All pipework support systems are installed to meet BS EN 1452, ensuring longevity for your peace of mind.
STAGE 5 | Render
A proprietary, fully bonded waterproof render and screed installed to BS8204-1 is the second layer of our waterproofing methodology. We enhance this process using trusted and approved systems to achieve a watertight surface and a durable finish, another layer maximising your pool’s life.
STAGE 6 | Finishes
We give you access to the very best selections of finishes from all over the world. Like any other materials for use within swimming pools, finishes need to be technically fit-for-purpose. Our finishing specialists will guide you accordingly when selecting your finishes during the design period. All finishes must then be adequality cured before pool filling. Henceforth, the pool tiling and grout require a three-week curing period prior to submersion.
STAGE 7 | Plant Room
All equipment in your plant room is selected to your specific requirements and fully compliant with PWTAG (Pool Water Treatment Advisory Group). The electrical control panel is bespoke as standard, specifically designed to serve and control all pool equipment.
STAGE 8 | Handover
Your now freshly filled pool with proper chemical dosing would be ready for handover by your dedicated Buckingham Pools’ Contracts Manager. As part of the project completion, it is our pleasure to offer familiarisation and training on the correct pool operation. We especially ensure you are confident to use and maintain your pool at your convenience.
Our Service and Maintenance packages are a great way to keep your pool clean, safe and balanced. Each package is tailor-made to your requirements and provides all the necessary work to ensure your facilities run smoothly every day.
